Do I have to put the name of the other parent on my baby’s birth certificate?

No. When the birth mother completes the birth registration document, she does not have to include information about the father or other parent.

However, the other parent can apply to the Court for an order called a “Declaration of Parentage.” They will have to prove to the Court that they are a parent to the child. They can then use this order to apply to have their name added to the birth certificate.
